When the writers went on strike Bob Smiger, Studio Head, and David Stein, Creator and Showrunner of MIDWEST RECURRENCE seek Writer Replacements to finish the last six episodes of the series season. They turn to veteran showrunner, Ike McGeezerstein, to finish the season. Ike brings in the kid that never was, creator of the abysmal MUSHROOM SKY of 1996, Trip Madison. He currently works at a copy shop in the valley.
The team struggles to fill out the rest of the line-up and settle for the best of the crop:
- Vincent St. Clair, former Broadway writer and current writer/director of aminal plays for the store Pet Love.
- Marylou Rebarich, simply known as Cats & Ponies for her love of just that Cats & Ponies.
- Brian Armstrong, a Production Assistant for the show who was in the right place at the right time, passing his spec script to Ike in the john.
The wReplacements are forced to become instant television writers who face an uphill battle as the show is already on a ratings nose dive.
